vintage magazines

I mentioned about a month or so ago, that I got some great new vintage magazines along with some charity yarn. Well, here they are!

can’t you imagine this top in a cotton yarn & a more updated color scheme?

love, love, love this take on the granny square sweater. Once again, change the acrylic to a nice, soft wool, and change the color scheme to something more planned…

i admit, i haven’t even had a chance to look through this one yet!

I have a few of these magazines, and I love the designs, but the directions are horrible!

what have you found at a thrift store lately?

vintage magazines

Good morning! I hope you guys are all doing great today. Missed last week’s post?

I wanted to share with you the mags that Linda kindly gave me last week. I knew you’d love them as much as me!

1001 sewing and needlecraft ideas
I’ve never seen this one before. I found it really interesting because it’s a cross between a catalog & a magazine, almost. There are knitting patterns, but most of the photographs just source commercial sewing patterns. Hmm.

family circle magazine
I especially love magazines like this for the articles, such as Why Do Children Run Away? It gives you such a little mini time capsule.

needlecraft
Good housekeeping needlecraft – that says it all? I have a few of these in my stash, but not this one.

Thanks again Linda! :)

vintage mags and books

Good morning! As I promised the last couple of weeks, here are some of the crafty magazines and leaflets and books I received for Christmas. I’ll be sharing with you over the next few weeks, so I hope you enjoy!

scrap knitting books
I love the top shown on the cover of the crochet book, made with thread. I have been accumulating thread with no plans for it… now maybe I do!

afghans

quick and easy crochet
I used to subscribe to this magazine & have a bunch of them in my stash, but I don’t think I’ve ever crocheted anything from them… ever.

Lastly
minerva afghans
Minerva afghans. I’m pretty sure I have this one a few times.

And while I have your attention, if you missed it, there’s still lots of time to join us in our crafty book challenge! Won’t you please join us & help spread the word?

mystery yarn

Good morning! What are you up to today? It’s work for me, as usual on a Monday.

I wanted to share a quick post with you today. I am lucky that not only does my mother try to find me yarn, but so does hubby. He had a few minutes to kill at work one day last week (he drives a van for the elderly/disabled) & popped into Salvation Army, & came out with this…

Of course, before I got that nice photo to share, I took this photo…

Wedgie’s so helpful, isn’t he?

In the bags of yarn was this yarn from Big Lots

does anyone know what it is, or what I can make with less than 50 grams of it?

it looks similiar to the ruffle yarn, but it’s as open or as wide.

That’s my boy…

soft sculpture playtime leaflet: vintage Tuesday

Did you miss Vintage tuesday? I only had time for a few quick photos, but I think this one is QUITE the gem for those of us who were kids during the 80s

it’s Soft Sculpture Playtime, aka clothes for Cabbage Patch Kids!

Oh – I paid 10 cents for this just a couple of weeks ago

my darn box: fun at the auction

2 weeks ago we went to the first field auction of the year. They have it every 2 weeks, from April to November, & we go to as many as we can. I’ve talked about this auction before; it’s held in a big, giant field, row after row of stuff, & you never know what you’ll find.

And it always, always, offers photo opportunities like this

And then you find things like this to bid on!
my darn box
I absolutely ADORE this! It’s dated 1990 on the back of the box, & was filled with mainly afghan hooks, with a few odd dpns & straights as well. It was perfect timing, too, as I’m hosting a “learn tunisian” cal on my group!

Oh, & you want to know how much I paid? $5 :)
