About Me / Press

crochet hooksHi, my name is Anastacia, and I am a yarnaholic. I love to knit, crochet, spin & dye. I love to read, love fantasy, sci-fi, young adult, biographies, historical fiction, and history. I’m a huge Joss Whedon fan.

I’m an avid yard saler & love to go camping. I work full time as a department manager for a retail store selling seconds/odd lots/that type of thing.

I love alpaca more than I should love a fiber. Have tried to spindle spin but didn’t get very far but will try again, hopefully with a different spindle.

I’m married, and we have one wonderful cat named Wedgie – he was found stuck in a tree, unable to walk, and in bad health. After lots of love from our wonderful vets, he came home with us in January 2011. Yes, I am a crazy cat lady!

Regarding my patterns: If you are interested in using any of my designs to make items to sell, you are more than welcome to for craft shows, raffles, auctions, and the like, but please no online sales without contacting me first. Please use for charity as much as you like, but I’d love to hear from you about what you are doing and what charity you are crafting for; the same is true if you’d like to use my patterns to teach others how to knit or crochet FOR FREE ONLY – just contact me. If you want to use my patterns for a PAID class, please contact me & we can talk.Anastacia Zittel

If you like my designs & would be interested in joining CALs or KALs or doing testing for me, please join my group on Ravelry. We’re always really happy to see new members!

Hi, a couple of women in our charity group are trying to crochet the York Shawlette and come to a screeching halt on row 4.  I tried it also and notice there must be something special as we get half way across row 4 and run out of directions - only half way across.  Please help. Thanks. Carol

carol taylor thanks for your interest in this pattern, Carol! I'm sorry you are having problems with the pattern - here's some help for you.

Start the row as per the directions - basically, you are increasing in the beginning of the shawl, dc across the row until the chain sp in the middle of the row - in the spine of the shawl, if you will. Dc in the ch sp, V st in the next 2 dc - dc in the next ch sp, dc across until the end of the row, & then 2 dc in the ch sp & V st in the last st.

Hope this helps!

so far I like your site. am new to the internet. But what caught my attention was my favorite item in my whole life. My Daisy's.

I'm interesed in you reviewing my novel which was recently published on amazon kindle. Do you still do book reviews?

I like your simple Beginners Dishcloth pattern and will be making as many as I can out of the cotton scraps I have for the upcoming craft fair my church is holding next weekend. Thanks

p.s.
Think I might also use it to teach my daughter how to crochet.

I read your review of The Hiding Place and thought you might be interested in reading my memoir, The Night Sky: A Journey from Dachau to Denver and Back. It’s about my 43-year search for my biological father who disappeared shortly after my birth in war-torn Germany. As I take the reader on my journey between the past and the present in Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Russia, and my association with a former KGB agent to solve a decades-long mystery, I learn the family secrets of untold heroism, quiet courage, and a mother’s love; and of tragedy, disillusionment and heartbreak. At the end of my long journey, I uncover a shattering and painful truth. But the secret, however heartbreaking, would also become the greatest gift I would receive.

If you’re interested, search for “Maria Sutton” in Amazon.com. Thanks!

Sincerely,
Maria Sutton

Hi Anastacia, I too am a cat and yarn lover! I really enjoy your site and have added it to my favorites so I can check back often. By the way, I found you through All Free crochet when I clicked the link to Alyssa's shawl. I have been crocheting since my mother first gave into my constant pestering for her to teach me. I think i was about 5, so about 41 years now. I started getting into knitting when I was about 10 and really took off a few years ago. Now I am in a serious relationship with both yarn crafts. LOL!! A few friends and I have formed a group and meet every week to knit, crochet and talk knitting and crocheting... it's a blast!!

I'm a cat lady too. My cat is named Sir Grey. He's a Russian Blue. I retrieved him from a friend six weeks after his mother gave birth to him. Sadly she
past after she had her third litter. But, he took her spunky ways so I'll always remember her through Sir Grey. He blends in well with my four kids, so you could say he's their fifth sibling.
