Look what I finished !

scrap afghans

a stack of scrap afghans for the nursing homes. I used various acrylic yarns & 12″ square patterns, various joining methods & edgings. I think they came out great!

These are all “boy” colors, I have some squares good to go for “girl” blankets, but haven’t started joining them yet.

My lucky sock got to go on vacation!

Here he is, just cast on, on his way to vacation!

Here he is, at the York Wild Animal Kingdom & Zoo,

enjoying a nice ride on the merry go round

Here he is, the next day, having grown a bit, at the Rachel Carson Wildlife Refuge,

a little wet from all the rain, but enjoying the day all the same

Now he is at the Antique Auto Museum, where it’s much nicer than all the rain outside

The sock enjoyed camping, even though it rained

and even managed to get to the beach

finished socks: friday fo on sat

you probably didn’t even notice I didn’t post at all this week. I’ve been enjoying a break from spending time online & enjoying my “vacation” from designing, being online, & blogging. I miss everyone terribly, but I have to admit – I’ve been really enjoying not being glued to the computer!

So, a day late – I finished 2 pairs of socks!

catherine socks
Catherine socks, started over a year ago! (according to the date on rav, I started these may 15, 2011)

purple socks
and a generic pair of socks using a bamboo/wool/nylon blend that’s really quite lovely. toe up, 64 stitches, & a simple (yo, ktog, yo, p2) pattern on the leg.

Both pairs are for my mom for christmas, she keeps seeing me knitting on the purple socks, keeping asking if they are for her, I keep telling her they are, & she keeps replying “I’ll probably forget by then anyway!” it’s now a running gag for us.

New Edge: friday fo

Look! I finished my New Edge!

new edge (3)

This was a lovely test I did for a designer friend of mine. I just LOVE this & it is so much fun to wear!

new edge (11)

I used a fingering weight yarn I dyed myself with kool aid. I crocheted a big, big long scarf like blank & attempted to dye stripes with it.

Very fast to knit, and the scarf / shawl is so much fun to wear. You can see from the photos, I tried to show some of the ways you can wear it. I just love the shape.

work in progress wednesday

Before I get to the fiber fun, I wanted to let you know that I’m taking a break from being online for most of the month of June. I’ll still be blogging, but probably just one or two posts a week instead of more often. I really need a break & time to work on other projects – and you know, actually finish things!

I’ve been working hard on finishing up wips, & trying not to start anything new.

I’m not really sure why the can is in the shot, other than, at the time, it was really really funny!

I also managed to grab a few photos of a tunisian scarf I’ve been playing with.

tunisian lace scarf (2)

I have some ideas for a new design, but wasn’t really sure exactly what I wanted, or how I wanted it to be done, or what stitches I wanted to use, so I just kept playing.

tunisian lace scarf (4)

I didn’t want to frog each attempt because what if I changed my mind? Not to mention I couldn’t remember which things I had tried, & which I hadn’t. So I kept going, & the finished scarf is pretty funky, I do say so myself. It’ll be added to the donation pile.

Today is the last day, I just want to remind you once again…
