good morning! I managed to spend the time to take some progress shots for you all. I’m working on trying to finish wips, get organized, & get back on track.

memorial day weekend

If you live in the US, you know today is Memorial day, the unofficial start of summer. We usually take a day trip with my parents over the weekend, have a bonfire, & go to a local yard sale or five. No bonfire this year, :( but we did manage to see Men in Black III at the drive in

and I did manage to score these cds

and there books

and a few odd skeins of yarn at the yard sales we hit.

We also went to Pittsfield State Park, where we saw these

I’ve been trying, really I have been, to finish things & not start new things. Do you believe me?
(you shouldn’t believe me, just for the record)

That being said, the stuff I’ve started that’s new, is either for a test, or for a new design – stuff I can’t share, & it’s “work related” (or so I rationalize *big grin*)

I did manage to take a few pics to share with you today, though…

toe up scrap cascade fixation socks, remember these? I was working on these on Sunday, & my mom saw them & said “Oh, are these for me? They are purple, they must be for me, purple is my favorite color”. I explained that they were scrap socks, showed her the less than matching pair “Oh, I don’t care they are purple” was my reply. So apparantly I’m making these for my mother… :)

next, another pair of socks
scrap toe up slip stitch socks
this is a design I’ve been working on. It’s just about ready to go, it’s been tech edited twice, been tested, my testers are just about done… what’s lacking is my finished, somewhat matching pair to go along with the pattern. this is my progress, or lack thereof…

you’ve seen these a few times before, they are the same pattern as above.
scrap slip stitch socks
the mate that it goes with was the prototype for the pattern & the slip stitch patterning is different, I’ll wear them together all the same as a pair, but they aren’t good enough to match really for a published, paid pattern. My mom calls them my Halloween socks. The mate has been finished & will be shared on Friday.

that’s all she wrote! what have you been up to?

scrap pattern roundup

link love graphic
You’ve probably noticed the amount of scrap projects I’ve been sharing the last month or so – I’ve always loved scrap projects & have always made a lot of them. For years now, I’ve gotten most of my yarn from yard sales & thrift stores (or at least until Knit Picks came around, a great affordable option for us in the US) & have always had to make do with odd skeins.

So I thought I’d do a roundup of some patterns I’ve been queuing up that I think would make worthy scrap projects…

Knit Patterns
Strip Tease (socks)
Stashbuster Cushion (like the ballband dishcloth)
Swatch Bangles (can easily take this idea & make crochet swatches)
fair isle tote Bagged
047
Leftover Dishcloth or Towel (photo shows one I made back in 2007)
001
002
Lobby Dishcloth by Mason Dixon Knitting (photos show 2 I made in 2008)

Crochet Patterns
Noro Catherine Wheel Hat (has a matching scarf)
March Chevron Bag
Post Double Crochet Potholder
great for charity – rectangle granny
an easy, striped, mitered potholder
another mitered, striped potholder

Got any more stashbusting, scrap ideas?

far pavilion square

My little design, Far Pavilion Square, is the current cal square for my Afghans & Blankets group on Ravelry (I’ll even tell you that there is a coupon code to get the square for free, if you like, but you have to go find it yourself in the thread ! bah wah ha *evil laughter* you’ll find out how much fun we are, you’ll want to join the group & the cal!!) One of my lovely ladies from the group, virtuallysally, shared a lovely square with us & even blogged about it.

She kindly gave me permission to share with ya’ll! Her lovely crafty blog is Virtually Sally so go check her out!

She used a yarn I never heard of before, Sullivans Cotton, a sport weight cotton & acrylic blend & a size G crochet hook.

Isn’t it lovely?
