Nipmuc Dishcloth (matching item to come on the 8th!)

I named this dishcloth after a local Native American tribe.

Materials: 1 skein of Sugar ‘n Cream or Peaches ‘n Cream 100% cotton yarn (i.e. “dishcloth†cotton) will yield 2 dishcloths (approximately 20 grams / 36 yards), with some leftover, & a size G (4.25 mm) crochet hook
Gauge: doesn’t matter, but after the 1st 3 rounds, my dishcloth measured 3â€
Measurements: 7.5†square
Abbreviations (pattern uses US terms):
ch: chain
sp: space
sl st: slip stitch
sk: skip
st: stitch
rep: repeat
beg ch 3/4: beginning chain 3/4
sc: single crochet
dc: double crochet
Pattern note: Dishcloth is worked in the round, & joined with a slip stitch after each round is finished.
Pattern:
Ch 4, join with a sl st to form a circle.
Round 1: Ch 4 (counts as 1st dc & ch 1 sp, now & throughout), * dc, ch 1, rep from * 6 times more. Join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 4.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same st as joining. Ch 1, sc in next dc. * Ch 3, sc in next dc (1st corner formed), ch 1, sc in next dc. Rep from * 2 times more, ch 3, join with a sl st to 1st sc.
Round 3: Ch 1, sc in 1st ch 1 sp. * (Dc, ch 1) 4 times in next ch 3 sp, dc once more in same ch 3 sp, sc in next ch 1 sp. Rep from * 2 times more, (dc, ch 1) 4 times in next ch 3 sp, dc once more in same ch 3 sp, join with a sl st to 1st sc.
Round 4: Ch 4, dc in same st. Ch 3, sk 2 dc, * (dc, ch 4, dc) in next dc, ch 3, sk 2 dc, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next sc, ch 3, sk 2 dc. Rep from * 2 times more, (dc, ch 4, dc) in next dc, ch 3, join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 3.
Round 5: Sl st into 1st ch 1, ch 3 (counts as dc now & throughout), 2 dc in same ch 1 sp. Ch 1, dc in next ch 3 sp, ch 1, dc in next dc, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch 4 sp. Dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next ch 3 sp, ch 1, sk next dc, 3 dc in next ch 1 sp. Ch 1, dc in next ch 3 sp, ch 1, dc in next dc. Rep from * 2 times more, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch 4 sp, dc in next ch 3 sp, ch 1, join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 3.
Round 6: Ch 3, dc in ea dc & ch sp around, working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ea corner.
Round 7: Ch 3, dc in ea dc around, working (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in ea corner.
End off. Weave in ends & wash dishes (or make your other half do them)!
