free bracelet pattern: Ruth’s Bracelet

This is a quick & easy, stretchy bracelet originally designed for a spring cal I hosted on my Ravelry group.

I named this bracelet in memory of my grandmother, Ruth Louise Osborne, who passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease. I offer this design to you for free, in the hopes that if you like this pattern, you would make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

Materials: Sock It To Me collection: Esprit, by Elann, 98.3% cotton, 1.7% elastic, 50 grams, 186 yards, or other dk weight cotton & elastic yarn, F crochet hook. Approximately 5 grams/10 yards were used

Gauge: 3 sc=1”. Gauge is not terribly critical to this project; after working 1st round, slip bracelet onto wrist & make sure it fits comfortably

Measurements: 6”. Bracelet is extremely stretchy

Abbreviations (pattern uses US terms):

ch: chain

rep: repeat

sk: skip

sp: space

beg: beginning

sl st: slip stitch

sc: single crochet

dc: double crochet

Pattern note: Bracelet is made in the round & is not turned after each round.

Pattern:

Round 1: Ch 24, join with a sl st to 1st ch to form a circle. Sc in ea ch around: 24 sc.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc. * (Sk 3 sc, ch 5, sc in sc) rep from * around, ch 5, & join with a sl st to 1st sc: 6 ch 5 loops.

Round 3: Ch 1, sl st into 3rd ch of ch 5, ch 1, sc in same ch. *Ch 5, sc in next ch 5 sp. Rep from * around glove until final ch 5 loop, ch 2, dc into 1st sc (counts as ch 5 loop): 6 ch 5 loops.

Round 4: Ch 3 (counts as 1st dc now & throughout), 2 dc over dc worked in last round. Ch 3, sc in next ch 5 sp, ch 3, sc in next ch 5 sp. Ch 3, 3 dc in next ch 5 sp. Ch 3, sc in next ch 5 sp, ch 3, sc in next ch 5 sp. Ch 3, join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 3: 6 dc & 6 ch 3 sp.

Round 5: Ch 3, dc in same dc. Dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc. Sk 1st ch 3 sp, ch 2, dc in ch 3 sp, ch 2, 2 dc in 1st dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc. Sk ch 3 sp, ch 2, dc in ch 3 sp, ch 2, & join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 3.

Round 6: Sl st into 3rd dc. Ch 1, sc in same dc. * (Ch 5, sc in ch 2 sp) twice, ch 5, sc in 3rd dc. Rep from * once more, & join with a sl st in 1st sc: 6 ch 5 sp.

Round 7: Rep round 3.

Round 8: Ch 1, * sc in sc, 3 sc in ch 5 sp. Rep from * around, & join with a sl st in 1st sc: 24 sc.

End off. Weave in ends & wear with pride!
