Inspired by this post, I decided I would share with you my reading story.
Lucky for me, I grew up with two parents who read a lot (especially when I was younger, as reading was cheap, and the days of cable TV non-existent). As an only child, I was expected to entertain myself, so what better way but to read? Like so many other book bloggers out there, I always had a book or two in hand, read before classes started, loved free reading periods, read during recess, & tried to get away with reading during gym class. During band rehearsals, I’d often be reading while other sections were practicing their parts. I’d read on the bus, read while walking home. Heck, I’d stick a paperback in between a schoolbook, so it looked like I was paying attention, even while immersed in something else. I read everything, from the few YA books of my day (Babysitters, Sweet Valley High, etc), to my beloved Bobbsey Twins & Campfire Girls & Nancy Drew series, to Piers Anthony Xanth books, which my dad got me hooked on. For a while, I read every single V.C. Andrews book, then I read nothing but the ever popular Danielle Steel, and for a while, I read the encyclopedia – every article but the science-y ones. My nickname was “bookmobile” because I always carried a stack of books.
Little has changed, as an adult! I still have a book or two on me, along with my knitting. Life is a little easier with my kindle since I can pack my entire library!
What about you? What’s your reading story?
I also somehow missed this, but luckily I did manage to read this. Of course I had to join, even though I’ve already signed up for two other history related challenges. So, without further ado:

Earlier this year I already read & reviewed Secrets of the Tudor Court: The Pleasure Palace, but I am not planning on counting that towards this challenge officially, but on my challenge page I’ll still list the review there so others can more easily see what’s Henry VIII themed.
Only yesterday I bought the Virgin’s Lover & The Queen’s Fool, by Phillippa Gregory, which I bought for my Chivalrous Deeds challenge, but would work nicely towards this challenge, too! Not sure what else I’ll read, but I won’t have any problems finding five, my target goal (again, not counting the Pleasure Palace).
