Howdy! How’s everyone doing with the after-Christmas let down? I always get a little depressed after Christmas; you are So busy, and so crazy, for SO long, that the calmness & quietness after Christmas always gets to me. It’s nice… it’s wonderful, really, how peaceful it is… but it’s almost *too* quiet, really, both at work & at home.
So, as a pick-me-up, I decided to join the Out With a Bang Readathon! I did miserable on the Thankfully Reading readathon – I didn’t even finish one book, but hey I work retail & we all know how crazy retail is after Thanksgiving! But since I read so few books this year (33, currently, not counting children’s books, craft books, or a few books that I didn’t finish but reviewed due to the terms from publisher), I decided maybe a last minute push to finish a few more would be nice (that is, after all why I started this blog: to read more, and to hold myself accountable for reading more). 2009 I read 48; 2008 I read 44; 2007, when my knitting obsession was really, really bad, I only read 24 (though quite a few of those WERE big, fat, historical fiction books). 2006 I read 54, my personal best as long as I’ve been keeping track; and 2005, the first year I kept track, I read 44 again. My average is obviously in the 40′s, so my goal is to finish 40 books this year to keep around my average. I have no doubt I’ll never be able to do this, but it will be fun trying!
So, my goal books:
Finish Under the Overpass & Tranquillity Initiative (both are books I’ve started; Under the Bridge is probably 3/4 done, TI is 1/6 done)
Pilot Mountain, by Robert Wall
Triune (kindle book)
The above books were all books received from author/publisher to review. I have not decided for sure if the other two books will be “review” books, or books from my personal TBR pile.
